Prince Wise, a spirited 9-year-old heart transplant recipient, recently embarked on a delightful culinary adventure that combined his love for food with a noble cause. This young chef had the incredible chance to help create a special menu item at a prestigious hotel restaurant in Pittsburgh, all in support of the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

At just 7 years old, Prince faced a daunting health challenge when he was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, necessitating urgent surgery and a heart transplant. Despite the trials he faced, Prince's resilience shone through, and his journey to recovery was nothing short of inspiring. Throughout his hospital stay, he discovered a passion for cooking and a discerning palate that appreciated the finer flavors in life.

Once he regained his appetite, Prince expressed a strong desire to craft crab cakes, a dish that reflects both his culinary aspirations and his love for delicious seafood. His enthusiasm was contagious, and when the Make-A-Wish Foundation approached him with the opportunity to design a dish for the Fairmont Pittsburgh's restaurant, the joy was palpable for both him and his mother, Chantell Hardin.

Upon arrival at the Fairmont, Prince met the talented head chef, Fernando Canales.
