Girl with Cleft Lip Adopts Dog with the same Feature, Celebrating Their Unique Bond!

Meet Kynlee Rogers, a bright and spirited 10-year-old, who shares a special bond with her adorable dog, Tennee. Both Kynlee and Tennee were born with cleft lips, creating a wonderful connection between them that celebrates their uniqueness.

In her younger years, Kynlee would often wonder why she was different from her peers, a question that can be tough for any parent to navigate. However, the heartwarming companionship she found in Tennee has transformed her perspective. She no longer feels different because she recognizes the beauty in their shared experience.

This uplifting story also brings to light the incredible mission of the Cleft Rescue Unit, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing together dogs with craniofacial differences and the human community that understands and embraces these unique traits. Founded by Lindsay Weisman in May 2023, the organization aims to create a supportive network for both humans and canines, fostering love and understanding.

As Weisman beautifully puts it, “Our mission is to combine the two different cleft communities: the human community and the canine community.” With puppies arriving from all corners of the country, the organization has seen many heartwarming adoptions where humans with clefts find joy in welcoming dogs that share their unique feature.

Cleft lips and palates can present challenges for both humans and puppies; however, with the right care and support, these precious pups can thrive. The Cleft Rescue Unit works tirelessly to raise awareness about the importance of veterinary care for these animals and to rescue them from situations where they might not receive the love and attention they need.

The moment of connection for Kynlee came when she innocently asked her mom if dogs could also have cleft lips. Her mother, recognizing a beautiful moment of understanding, joyfully responded, “Of course they do.” This simple exchange opened the door to a life-changing experience.

In September, Kynlee and her family welcomed Tennee into their home, and the impact has been nothing short of profound. The bond they share is a testament to the goodness that can arise when compassion and love come together, creating a joyful life filled with shared experiences.

Kynlee and Tennee's story is a shining example of how embracing our differences can lead to beautiful connections. Let’s celebrate this match made in heaven and share their inspiring journey with friends and family!
